Reflection while reading #2
Tims early days:
Tim was homeschooled all of his elementary and high school life. This made living on a farm easier for his parents because they could do farm work in the early mornings take a break to learn for a bit and then go back to working on the farm or if the work was done then him and his siblings would play a game, whether it was basketball, baseball or football. This made school very flexible for Tim which was perfect for his life. His mother and father taught him in many ways and used the families competitiveness to learn. An example of this is Mrs.Tebow would make up placemats with provinces capitals and then whoever could memorize it first would win. However they soon found out that Tim and his brother were dyslexic, which was fine and they found learning was easier through action rather then reading. Easily coming over this hurdle.
I have always wondered what it was like to be homeschooled. Like you basically make your own schedule and change it around when something comes up. However for Tims life this was a huge asset for him. He was able to change around his schooling when he had a sports game or if there was something on the farm that needed to be done then they could easily make time for that and turn whatever they did into a lesson. However for my life it wouldn't make much of a difference because I don't have commitments that effect my school life. I do find it very inspiring how hard that his mother worked to find ways around the dyslexia and to come up with smart ways where the kids would retain the information and have fun doing it or the research projects they would do meant something to them.
